International specialists to discuss the latest advances in dry eye treatment and selective corneal surgery

The 3rd Anterior Segment Academy international conference, organised by the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO), in collaboration with the IMO Foundation, will be held at the IMO’s Conference Centre on 21 and 22 April 2017

New methods for the diagnosis of dry eye and its therapeutic treatment and the latest cutting-edge techniques for anterior and posterior selective lamellar corneal surgery are some of the topics that renowned national and international specialists will be discussing at the IMO during the third edition of the Anterior Segment Academy, a conference held every year in a different European city.

“This year, we are expecting around 300 specialists to attend,” explainsDr José Luis Güell, the coordinator of the IMO’s Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department and conference director, alongside Dr Paolo Vinciguerra from Italy. The event’s local organising committee is made up of Dr Miriam Barbany, Dr Daniel Elies, Dr Óscar Gris and Dr Mercè Morral, also from the IMO’s Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department. Speakers include experts of the likes of Dr Harminder Dua from the UK, who discovered Dua’s layer in 2013, as well as Dr Shigeru Kinoshita from Japan and Dr Friedrich Kruse from Germany. The full list features speakers from more than 10 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas.
