The mission of the IMO Foundation is to improve people’s vision and quality of life through research, teaching, prevention and social projects.
This is made possible thanks to the staff of the Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular, who bring their enthusiasm and experience, and other volunteers, collaborators and sponsors who support the project.
The IMO Foundation’s vision is to contribute to the advancement of ophthalmology and the improvement of society.
In the field of research, this vision is focused on the development of treatments that offer solutions to currently incurable eye diseases; in the field of teaching, the desire is to promote scientific collaboration and the training of new generations of ophthalmologists.
The other great challenge of the IMO Foundation is to move towards a healthcare model that attaches increasing importance to prevention, with a particular focus on treating members of groups who are susceptible to suffering from ophthalmic diseases and reaching those who are at risk of social exclusion.
The Foundation’s values stem from the spirit of the IMO, which promoted its creation in 2010 and continues to sustain its work on a daily basis:
- Respect for patients and their visual health
- Ethical excellence and transparency
- Expertise and professionalism
